What's Wannop Watching - 7/22- "Baskets"

I've had a crush on Zach Galifianakis since the early 2000's. So loving the "#Baskets" isn't hard. I saw him do stand up in Los Angeles and fell in love his self deprivation and awkward delivery. I own "Live at he Purple Onion" and have watched it countless times. I once saw him at the Improve and I had the ball to send him a drink on stage. After the show I got to speak to him, saying "I am the one who sent you a drink to say thank you because I've used one of your jokes for years" His swift reply was " Oh, do you want your money back?" and then he walked away. I actually liked him more after that. I've watched almost everything he's done, and was kind bummed when the rest of the world discovered him in "The Hangover". It's like a secret everyone now knows.

"Baskets"

"Baskets" is dark comedy that I think is actually very endearing. The show is about a guy who has a dream to be a clown, but it just doesn't work out. Louis Anderson plays his mother and I completely forget he is man when I watch it. I can't imagine any female actor in that part now, he's brilliant in it. Zach plays two parts, a set of twins, and gives one twin a southern accent for no reason. A failed clown who is now in his hometown of Barkerfield CA, the sets go from Paris miming school, to a hometown rodeo. They all have a deep sense of realism. They are dirty and cluttered with details of the characters. I've heard it's not the easiest show to work on because of shooting schedule and budget but you would never know. The sets are true background charters in the show.
